Materials:
- Tulle (see my notes below on how I prepped the tulle for this project)
- U.S. J Hook (9/5.50 MM)
- Stitch Marker (not necessary, but I found it helpful)
Notes:
1. Preparing the tulle (pictures below):
- I bought the tulle in a 6" x 25 yard tube (it was cheaper than the stuff already cut to 3" x 25 yards). I then cut the tube in thirds, giving me 3 tubes of 2" x 25 yards of tulle. You can get the same result by making the strips 3" wide instead of 2".
- I took an end from two of the newly cuts tubes of tulle and tied it together (giving you 2 strands of tulle to work with) and wrapped it into a ball. I also saved all the lengths I had left over from each scrubby and tied them together. I figured that since they are used to clean dishes it didn't matter if they were 1 color or 10.

2. As I mentioned, you will be working with 2 strands of tulle for this project. To me, the colors that I used didn't matter since they are just being used to clean dirty dishes!
3. This piece is worked in the round - there are no joins at the end of the round.
4. Everything is worked in BACK LOOPS ONLY (this gives the ridges for extra scrubbing power).
5. Don't worry about knots in the tulle or tied ends - just weave them into the when the scrubby is finished. It adds a little cushion to the middle and the knots add to the 'scrubbiness'! Also, since these are made with nylon, they won't scratch your pots and pans!
6. These are approximately 4 - 5" wide and 1" in height.
Abbreviations/Stitches Used:
- Slip Knot
- CH - Chain
- DC - Double Crochet
- BLO - Back Loop Only
- SC - Single Crochet
- SC2TOG - Single Crochet 2 Together (Decrease)
Pattern:
1. Make a slip knot and CH 3 (counts as 1st DC)
2. 11 DC in 3rd CH from hook (12 DC) - remember, do not join, work in continuous rounds
3. 2DC in each stitch around (24 DC) - remember to work stitches in the back loop only
4. DC in next 2 stitches, 2 DC in next - repeat around (36 DC)
5. DC in each stitch around (36 DC)
6. SC in next 4 stitches, SC2TOG - repeat around ending with SC in last 3 stitches (28 SC)
7. SC in next 2 stitches, SC2TOG - repeat around (21 SC)
8. SC in next 2 stitches, SC2TOG - repeat around ending with a SC in last stitch (16 SC)
9. SC2TOG around (8 SC); finish off leaving a long tail. Weave the tail through the remaining 8 stitches and gently pull the center closed. Make a knot and weave all ends into the center of the scrubbie.
